Construction of the Great Wall began around the 7th century BC, but it was Emperor Qin Shi Huang who first connected different sections in the 3rd century BC.
Later dynasties expanded it, especially the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). The wall stretched over 21,000 kilometers, protecting China from invasions.
Thousands of workers, including soldiers and peasants, built it under harsh conditions. Despite its size, the wall was not always effective, as invaders sometimes found ways around it.
Today, it stands as a symbol of Chinese perseverance and engineering achievement.
